Prognosis Following The Autotransplantation Of The Impacted Teeeth


Abstract
The impacted canines, premolars and the third molars were repositioned in the same alveolar sockets or transplantated to replace the previously missing teeth. Of the previously missing teeth. Of the 71 teeth which had been followed for over 2
years
(2-13 years ; 7.4¡¾2.7 years) after the auto-transplantation of the impacted teeth, 68 teeth, 68 teeth (95.8%) survived with good function, but only 3 teeth (42%) were extracted.
By the clinical and roentgenologic examination, 63 teeth (88.7%) showed successful periodontal healing without root resorption, 5 teeth (7.0%) followed by transient root resorption without any clinical discomfortness, but 3 teeth (4.2%) in
progressive
root resorption
Of the 61 immature teeth which were transpositioned without endodontic treatment, 53 teeth (86.8%) maintained their pulp vitalities and kept going their root growth by 1 -2.5 mm in the new alveolar sockets for 1-3 years after autotransplantation.
